I'm planning to buy a floppy emulator and use it on A500 as replacement inside an external floppy drive box.
If necessary, I also plan to buy a hardware DF0/DF1 switch to easily boot from either the internal real floppy drive or the external floppy emulator.
Which hardware is best?
- Gotek with HxC firmware?
- Or SD HxC Floppy Emulator REV F?
From what I understand, Gotek is best as:
- it supports USB pen drives instead of SD Cards (no SD Card adapter required when writing disk images from PC)
- direct ADF usage without conversion to HFE
- it is cheaper
I may also occasionally use that floppy emulator on Atari ST.
Is there any advantage of the SD HxC over Gotek + HxC?

Sure. Here are some of the advantages:BlankVector wrote:Is there any advantage of the SD HxC over Gotek + HxC?
- it supports two drives (DF0 + DF1) at the same time and many games supports more than one drive. this means you dont have to change diskimage as often as you must do it with a Gotek
- it comes with a display that shows lots of things (like (a) name of the diskimag (b) track (c) diskside (d) read- or write-mode and so on ... )
- it looks and feels much more valuable
